OUTSTANDING PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER AWARD

As a part of our effort to promote value education the Universal Solidarity Movement has instituted two awards at the national level to motivate the principals and teachers who work for making education value based. On 5th September, the Teacher’s Day, the USM organizes a special meeting to honour an outstanding principal and a teacher from any part of the country. The award consists of a citation and certificate besides a cheque of Rs.10,001/-.

The Best Teacher and Best Principal awards were instituted in 2007 to honour the memory of Sr. Louise Josephine, a committed and selfless teacher who passionately promoted value education in schools.

SHIRELE RENJI SAMUEL AWARD,2016 FOR MRS.RAMOLA S.RAO

Shirley Ranji Samuel was a familiar name in the health care sector of Indore city. She was known for her sensitivity to the poor and the marginalized, effective management of the nursing staff, an excellent tutor and principal of nursing students, a crisis manager and leader who led from the front. She was a symbol of empowerment of women and lover of humanity. The award is instituted to promote excellence with commitment in nursing care. Every year an outstanding nurse from the Indore city hospitals is selected for this award.

HONESTY AWARDS

Tired of the rampant corruption in the society and the ineffectiveness of slogan shouting and street protests against corruption  Bernardo D’ Souza  came up with a positive venture of  promoting  honesty. With the support of his family he established HONESTY FOUNDATION with family earning.  Through the Foundation he wants to organize activities to promote honesty. The first activity was instituting HONESTY AWARDS for the children in the schools. It was launched in collaboration with USM as it is a Movement committed to promote value based education over the last twenty four years. HONESTY FOUNDATION was formally launched on 30th December, 2012 at Indore  on the occasion of the 45th KNIT INDIA. Two students were given the first HONESTY AWARDS on that occasion. They were Juhi Shrivastava from Delhi and Anshika Jain from Agra. In 2013 honesty award was given to six students. Thereafter Honesty Award is given every year to the selected candidates.

Fund for HONESTY FOUNDATION is raised from the family business of Bernardo. He does not take funds from Government.  Bernardo believes in giving back to the society because all profit and prosperity come from the society. He sincerely believes that everyone is duty bound to give back to the society. He intends to spend one third of his wealth for the society by supporting activities which promote values, especially honesty.

OUTSTANDING SOCIAL WORKER AWARD

There are thousands of individuals and NGOs and charitable organizations working for the development of the poor and the disadvantaged groups of people. USM wants to encourage individuals and groups that are adopting innovative ways for empowering the poor, but not  known to the public. A social worker or group, known for innovative approach is honoured  on the occasion of International Women’s Day  every year with a certificate, citation and a cash contribution of Rs. 10001/-
